Our vision ensures that OEMs benefit from regular audits while alleviating the burden on suppliers, ultimately contributing to the reduction of risk throughout the industry. Nadcap offers 26 critical process accreditations, including historic special processes such as, Nondesctructive Testing, Heat Treating, Chemical processes, but has evolved into critical process oversight for the industry, such as Printed Board Assemblies (PBA), Materials Testing laboratories, and Measurement & Inspection. To be industry managed means that the management, oversight, and decision-making processes are primarily driven by representatives from the participating OEM’s This industry-managed approach ensures that the accreditation program remains relevant and responsive to the specific needs andcy requirements of the OEMs and the ADS industry.
The Nadcap Mission
Celebrating 35 Years of Collaboration with Aviation and Space Sectors
Before Nadcap, aerospace companies audited their suppliers individually, resulting in redundant audits, increased costs, and inefficiencies, which led the U.S. Government and industry leaders to establish the Performance Review Institute (PRI) in 1990 to administer a standardized accreditation program for critical aerospace and defense processes. Originally focused on special processes like NonDestructive Testing, Welding, and Heat Treating, Nadcap has grown into a globally recognized program that enhances quality, reduces audit duplication, and strengthens supply chain efficiency, with nearly 60 OEMs participating and over 5,000 audits conducted annually.
As we celebrate our 35th anniversary, our first meeting of the year in Garden Grove, California marked a bold step forward. The NMC voted on and revealed our renewed mission statement: "Providing the aviation, space, and defense industries with a globally recognized critical process accreditation."
