Peter Lord
Director, Quality and Health, Safety & Environment, Rolls-Royce
Peter Lord is Director of Quality and Health, Safety & Environment for Rolls-Royce’s Operations business. In this role, he leads a global team responsible for both strategy and implementation of all quality, environmental, health and safety and related regulatory topics for domestic and supply chain production.
Prior to this role, Peter has had a long career with Rolls-Royce, starting in 1998 working on high temperature materials development and characterisation. This led to several roles in Manufacturing Engineering, during which time he worked on developing and improving novel manufacturing processes for turbine components, progressing to lead the Engineering teams for both turbine and compressor manufacture.
More recently, Peter moved to more direct Operations roles, leading facilities manufacturing compressor components before becoming Manufacturing Executive at Rolls-Royce’s fan blade manufacturing facility. Following this, he took the role of Operations Executive, initially for compressor manufacture and then for the turbines business. In these roles, he was accountable for overall operational business performance while also leading the functional teams, including Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Planning activities.
Peter holds a Masters degree from the University of Cambridge in Materials Science and Metallurgy, and is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the UK’s Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
