What is the Pyrometry Process Planner exam? 
The Pyrometry Process Planner exam is an objective assessment of your theoretical knowledge and understanding of how to successfully perform heat treatment processes expected of a Pyrometry Process Planner. It is part of the PRI Qualification program for aerospace special process manufacturing. 

What topics does the exam cover? 
The exam aligns with the Body of Knowledge (BoK) for the Pyrometry Process Planner. Key assessment areas include: 

• General knowledge of Quality and Aerospace standards 

• Sensors (thermocouples, RTDs, etc.) 

• Instrumentation

What’s New?

What has changed with the updated exam? 
The Pyrometry Process Planner exam has been fully updated to reflect current industry standards. The exam will run on our new exam platform, Prolydian, starting in July 2026 and is remotely proctored for the first time — meaning you can take it from your own location with live proctoring. 

Why was the exam updated? 
The previous version referenced outdated standards. The updated exam ensures alignment with the latest industry requirements and best practices. 

What is remote proctoring? 
Remote proctoring allows you to take the exam from your own location while being monitored by a live proctor via webcam. This includes identity verification (ID check) to ensure exam integrity. 

Registration & Platform 

How do I register for the exam? 
You can register for the Pyrometry Process Planner exam through Prolydian. The link to register will be updated here in July 2026 when it launches. Please bookmark this page.

What is Prolydian? 
Prolydian is PRI’s new exam platform, replacing WebAssessor for this exam. It offers a more user-friendly experience and supports remotely proctored exams. 

When is the exam available? 
The updated Pyrometry Process Planner exam launches in July 2026.

Yes. The Pyrometry II: Aerospace Pyrometry AMS2750™ course from PRI Training℠ covers all of the content outlined in the Body of Knowledge for this exam and provides a comprehensive learning experience to prepare for the assessment. PRI Training℠ is an Approved Training Provider for this exam with this course.

Taking the Exam 

What do I need to take the proctored exam? 

• A stable internet connection 

• A webcam and microphone 

• A valid, government-issued photo ID 

• A quiet, private testing environment 

What happens during the proctoring process? 
A live proctor will verify your identity via your photo ID and webcam before the exam begins. You will be monitored throughout the exam session to ensure a fair testing environment. 

This is an open-book exam, meaning you may reference the Body of Knowledge and applicable standards. However, you must not receive outside assistance or communicate with others during the exam. The use of phones or other messaging devices is not permitted. 

Can I still take the exam in person? 
No. This exam is only available as a remotely proctored assessment and cannot be taken in person. 

Do I have to complete the exam in one sitting? 
Yes. The exam must be completed in a single session and cannot be paused and resumed.
