
Guided by the PRI Qualification Management Council, Technical Review Boards approve training provider courses whose content adequately covers the content of a specific Body of Knowledge. Along with the Body of Knowledge, these approved courses are a great way to prepare for taking a PRI Qualification assessment.

What’s the Process?
Each prospective Training Provider is thoroughly reviewed by one of our PRI Qualification Technical Review Boards, which are comprised of industry experts from top aerospace companies. These experts provide feedback on the alignment of the course materials to the PRI Qualification Bodies of Knowledge. They also review instructor experience and credentials, the quality of the training facility, and customer feedback.

PRI Training’s Introduction to Pyrometry is a two-day review and comprehensive discussion of the SAE AMS 2750 specification and how to apply the requirements at your company.
The course covers pyrometric requirements for thermal processing equipment used for heat treatment. It covers temperature sensors, instrumentation, thermal processing equipment, system accuracy tests, and temperature uniformity surveys.
These are necessary to ensure that parts or raw materials are heat treated in accordance with the applicable specification(s).

PRI Training’s Chemical Processing: The Science and Engineering of Anodizing is a two-day course that helps attendees understand the chemical processes used to modify and enhance surface properties and performance by applying an anodized coating including chemical films. After a review of electrochemical terminology and anodizing fundamentals, the course covers different types of Anodizing; Chromic, Sulfuric, Boric/Sulfuric, Tartaric/Sulfuric & chemical films. The course looks at the required process flow for each type; from tooling/racking, masking, pre-treatment, cleaning, anodizing, anodize control & post process treatments, such as sealing. The course also covers basic knowledge of anodizing, introduction and comprehension of the consequences of incorrect processing, successful operation from written documentation and helps ensure an understanding of lot, periodic & chemical testing and the significance of sampling plans.

Amfin’s Acid Etch Operator training is a comprehensive introduction to the etching of nickel-based alloys, steels and titanium alloys prior to etch inspection. The training consists of part classroom-based sessions to introduce the theory of etching and part practical sessions in Amfin’s Nadcap-approved processing facility. With its mix of theoretical and practical work, this training offers attendees the unique opportunity to put the learnings into practice and thereby develop a deeper understanding of the etching process and all it entails. During the two-day training, attendees will learn about the theory of etching the different metals, the hazards associated with etching processes, part set-up, and the processing parameters such as time and temperature and their effect on the etching process.

Amfin’s Etch Inspector Operator training is a three-day foundation course covering the etch inspection of nickel-based alloys, steels and titanium alloys for the aerospace industry. The training offers an insight into the manufacturing processes for these materials and an in-depth treatment of the different defects that may occur and the etch inspection methods used. The training consists of part classroom-based sessions covering the theory of etch inspection, part practical sessions in Amfin’s Nadcap-approved processing facility. With its mix of theoretical and practical work, attendees can put the learnings into practice under the guidance of an experienced etch inspector and thereby develop a deeper understanding of the etch inspection of aerospace parts.

Amfin’s Anodizing Theory and Practice is a three-day training course covering the anodizing processes most used in the aerospace industry. This planner-level course provides an in-depth understanding of the theory of anodizing, its chemistry and the formation of the anodized film. It also covers the process for different types of anodizing: Chromic, Sulphuric, Phosphoric, TSA and BSAA as well as racking, pre- and post-treatment and quality requirements for these types of surface treatment. The theoretical concepts are illustrated in practical sessions in our Nadcap-approved facility, allowing attendees to develop a thorough understanding of how the anodizing theory relates to the treatment of parts in the plant.

Amfin’s Conversion Coating Operator training is an introduction to the chromating and phosphating of various substrates such as aluminium, magnesium and ferrous metals.
In the training classroom-based sessions to introduce the theory of conversion coating are alternated with practical sessions in Amfin’s Nadcap-approved processing facility. Plating processes that are listed in the Body of Knowledge are explained as well as racking, pre- and post-treatment and quality requirements for these types of plating. This is a planner-level course and it presents an in-depth understanding of the theory of plating and the formation of the plated film. The theoretical concepts are illustrated in practical sessions in our Nadcap-approved facility, allowing attendees to develop a thorough appreciation of how the plating theory relates to the treatment of parts in the plant.

Amfin’s training course: Paint and Dry Film Lubricants Planner covers Paint and DFL application for Aerospace purposes. Surface preparation, paint / dry film products and their specific application criteria and quality requirements are explained in detail. The course focuses mainly on spray application and participants will witness this in one of Amfin’s large spray booths. The training will cover racking, masking and stoving and the most conventional quality inspection methods will be demonstrated. Because the course takes place in our Nadcap-approved facility, participants have the opportunity to link theory to practice, ensuring that the training is relevant to their daily work.
