MedAccred® Addresses Medical Device Quality and Compliance Issues in New Podcast Channel
- Nov 28, 2023

A new medical device podcast channel called ‘The Review’ has been launched in which the MedAccred program brings global experts and policymakers together to discuss best practice in quality and compliance for critical process manufacturing.
Listeners will hear about the key tools to boost product quality and business performance while improving safety for end-users. With three episodes already available, the channel offers useful insights and covers a wide range of topics.
The Review is hosted by the Performance Review Institute (PRI), administrators of the MedAccred program, with each episode of the podcast lasting approximately 30 minutes. In the first episode, host Randy Daugharthy, Vice President, Business Development for PRI, is joined by Justin McCabe, Operations Manager for MedAccred, as they drill down into the MedAccred program, exploring how this industry managed approach to quality assurance is driving conformance to high standards and ultimately protecting patients.
How medical device manufacturers can improve the resiliency of their supply chains on a global scale, is the focus for the second episode of The Review. Randy and Justin come together again to discuss how visibility, flexibility, control, and collaboration are prerequisites for OEMs when developing resilient supply chains to weather potential disruptions.
In the third episode, Randy talks with Robert Aanerud, Principal Consultant, Trainer and Lead ISO Auditor, CISSP, CISA, CPP, for JBW Group. Robert’s clients have included over 120 of the Fortune 500 corporations in the United States, and hundreds of organizations and government entities in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Europe, and Central and South America. The pair discuss cybersecurity and the lack of quality standardization across the industry, and regulations which are resulting in a patchwork of approaches to create unifying standards.
Further upcoming episodes include:
- Episode 4: An overview of how MedAccred is collaborating with the FDA on its supply chain resiliency efforts, and sterilization oversight, with Justin McCabe (MedAccred) and Cisco Vincenty (FDA).
- Episode 5: A discussion of the need for quality standardization in the additive manufacturing industry and emerging trend, with Richard Freeman (Principal Staff Engineer, Nadcap) and Dave Abbott (Senior Staff Engineer, Additive Manufacturing, GE Aviation).
- Episode 6: Understanding MedMapp, the U.S. Government’s program that helps suppliers to achieve MedAccred Accreditation, with Justin McCabe (MedAccred) and Scott Schein (MedMAPP).
- Episode 7: Discussing The Case for Quality Collaborative Community, from the Medical Device Innovation Consortium, which enables medical device stakeholders to work together to enhance device quality and patient safety, with Justin McCabe (MedAccred) and Paul Sumner (Program Director, Medical Device Innovation Consortium).
Randy Daugharthy said: “The Review, from the Performance Review Institute, is a new and exciting opportunity for anyone with an interest in manufacturing quality and compliance, to hear global leading experts and regulatory authorities discuss the pressing industry challenges, and the ways in which they may be overcome.”
