2 (Continuing Professional Development)

Heat Treatment in Diffusion Processes is one of a series of courses giving underlying knowledge for heat treatment. This course extends earlier general courses on basic metallurgy, heat treatment, and alloy steels to the special issues of four main types of surface treatment. Topics include an explanation of diffusion treatments, practical considerations of heat treatment, and determination of case-hardened depth.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the main types of surface treatment.
  • Explain the theory of surface hardening.
  • Describe methods of determining case-hardened depth.
  • Describe Nadcap requirements for heat treatment in diffusion processes.

Who Should Attend

Any person who is actively involved with or associated with diffusion processes will benefit from this course. Participant must have knowledge equivalent to the courses on Basic Metallurgy of Heat Treatments, Basic Heat Treatment, and Heat Treatment of Alloy Steels.
