Heat Treating

Heat Treatment in Brazing

  • Instructor Led

PRI Training’s Brazing: Fundamentals and Application course teaches participants how to control key variables to ensure brazed joints conform to customer specifications and quality requirements. The course provides an overview of the brazing process and its underlying scientific phenomena. Participants review best practices for joint design, base and filler metals, heat sources, and protective covers. Participants also review common types of brazed joint discontinuities and how they are detected, identified, assessed, and addressed. The course concludes with a case study focused on the inspection and testing of brazed joints.
Brazing is a two-day course that uses discussions, activities, and interactive knowledge checks to foster engagement and guide participant learning.

Course Objectives

By the end of this training, you will be able to:

    • Describe the fundamental principles of brazing.
    • Explain the role of joint designs, base metals, filler metals, heat sources, and protective covers in the production of conforming brazed joints.
    • Compare the advantages, challenges, and process considerations for torch, induction, and furnace brazing.
    • Summarize the role of engineering documents and procedural documents in the brazing process.
    • Describe methods for identifying, assessing, and correcting nonconforming brazed joints.
