Basic Metallurgy of Heat Treatment is designed to help employees understand heat treatment, identify in-process changes that might be detrimental to the product, and take corrective action to reduce the risk of nonconformance. This course covers the underlying metallurgy of heat treatment, including metals and structures, deformation, alloying, and properties and testing. These topics are developed in the alloy-specific courses in the series. 

Learning Objectives 

By the end of this training, you will be able to: 

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of how heat treatment affects metals and structures. 
  • Identify how heat treatment process changes affect the product. 
  • Understand the alloy-specific information presented in the other courses in the series.
