A Nadcap® Symposium was held in Shanghai, China, on 5-6 December, attended by 170 aerospace professionals from Nadcap Subscriber and Supplier companies.

The free event was a great opportunity to learn and interact with Nadcap colleagues, the Performance Review Institute (PRI) (administrators of the Nadcap program), and its partner organizations in China.

The opening session included the following speakers and presentations:

  • Jay Solomond, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, PRI –

Introduction to PRI.

  • Jianqiang Xu, Quality Director of Quality & Airworthiness Management Department of COMAC – Introduction to commercial aircrafts of COMAC, productivity goals; mission; structure of Nadcap team, encouraging suppliers to become Nadcap accredited, COMAC participation in Nadcap program, and PRI involvement in China.
  • Shu Tang, Deputy Director of Purchasing & Supply Chain Management Department, ACAE – Application of special process commercial aircraft engine, introduction to ACAE, supply chain requirements, and special process management.
  • Lei Bao, Vice President of NCS Testing Technology Co., Ltd, and Supplier Support Committee (SSC) Representative for Asia – Nadcap Audit and participation from suppliers in China, including introduction to NCS, journey of Nadcap audit of NCS, journey of participation in Nadcap program from NCS, and introduction to Nadcap Supplier Support Committee.
  • Van Gao, Managing Director of the International Aviation Supply Chain (IASC) and Global Aerospace Cluster Partnership (GACP) China Hub – Creating Global Collaborations That Soar.

PRI staff engineers provided a technical Nadcap focus with presentations on NonDestructive Testing, Chemical Processing, and Heat Treatment critical processes, to support effective Nadcap audit preparation and post-audit activity.

During the second day of the symposium, 10 Nadcap Suppliers from 10 companies shared feedback with PRI about EAN (formerly eAuditNet), how to reply to Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), auditors and training, among other subjects.

Jay Solomond, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, PRI, said: “The Nadcap Symposium in Shanghai has been a great opportunity for the Nadcap aerospace engineering community to come together, to learn about and discuss technical matters relating to critical manufacturing process audits, and to understand developments and opportunities within Chinese aerospace manufacturing.”
